NORTH AMERICAN ROUNDNET COOPERATION
The National Governing Bodies (NGBs) from Canada, Mexico, and the United States collectively ratified the North American Roundnet Rules with the following in mind:
Unify North American (NA) roundnet players, as nearly all of them exclusively play within the continent.
Set the stage for future collaboration between NA NGBs to advance the sport of roundnet together. While unifying a rule set is a small step, we intend it to symbolize a commitment to future cooperation for sharing resources and working together to grow roundnet at all levels in our continent, together.
This work supplements the IRF’s Roundnet Rules Revolution (RRR) initiative by allowing minor baseline modifications to use at NA events that are not already going to be used in coordination with the IRF’s Roundnet Rules Revolution.

The National Governing Bodies (NGBs) for Roundnet from Canada, Mexico, and The United States have come together to ratify the North American Roundnet rules for 2025. This rule set is intended for all* sanctioned play and general practice. You can review the published rules document under USA Roundnet’s announcement web page at usaroundnet.com.The vast majority of our roundnet athletes play in just one country. For those who play internationally, nearly all of them play solely within the North American continent. This rule set combines the IRF’s 2024 adopted revisions and folds in small baseline adjustments proposed by USA Roundnet and ratified by all three NGBs.Looking ahead, this cooperation is just one of hopefully many more ways the North American Roundnet NGBs can collaborate to pool limited resources and volunteer personnel into advancing the collective mission of roundnet. Whether that is representing North America at the 2025 Pan American Roundnet Championship, fostering local community development across more local cities, states, and provinces, competing head to head at one another’s events, or anything in between, we’re excited to push roundnet forward together as one North American community.
* Note: Any events that are coordinating with the IRF as part of their RRR25 initiative will use those specific experimental rules instead. If a sanctioned event has not already committed to using IRF’s experimental rules, reach out to your respective NGB to coordinate submitting test data. Otherwise, all other events will be used to establish a baseline for status quo statistics on roundnet gameplay.
