USA Roundnet
National Series
2024 National Series Overview
USA Roundnet is partnering with 5 tournaments between February and April of 2024. These tournaments will take place across 5 regions: West, South, Southeast, Midwest, and East. The goal of this National Series is three-fold:
Build more continuity between all USAR Sanctioned Events and the National Championship.
Crown Regional Champions to promote more localized competition.
Serve as Part One of the Team USA Selection Process with defined stakes balanced with accessibility.
Nationals
In addition to the National Series, USA Roundnet will host a National Championship June 29 in Raleigh, NC. This event will serve as the conclusion to the 2024 USA National Series and crown a men’s and women’s champion. By hosting this event over the summer, we hope to draw more participants and avoid competing with other big tournaments later in the year. The Sunday of Nationals weekend will be a camp day for Team USA. National team members and coaches can use this to practice with their teammates and plan for The 2024 World Championship. This will also serve as a media day for Team USA.

A full breakdown of the regionals forecast for each tournament will be shared here the week of the event:

NationalS POWER POOLS
The overall winner of each division will automatically earn a bid to the Power Pool for Nationals.
If the overall winner is not “in-region,” the top placing in-region team will also be awarded a bid. (more details on Regional Champions below)
Additional details on earning points to qualify for a power pool and other information about nationals are under development.
Team USA Qualification
Players who finish in the top 4 of the highest Open and highest Women’s will be eligible for selection to the National Team.
If a top 4 team has zero U.S. players, the spot will filter down to 5th. Half US teams will earn Team USA consideration for the American player. (e.g. If the 2nd place team is Canadian and the 3rd place team is German, then the teams losing in the quarterfinals will play out for 5th and the 5th and 6th place teams will be eligible for Team USA. But a US player who places top 4 with a non-US partner is still eligible for selection to Team USA)
If a Women’s Division fails to reach 6 teams by the Tuesday before the tournament, all players who registered for the division will be eligible for Team USA selection, and the division will be cancelled.

Regionals
USAR is promoting local success as part of our multi-year strategic plan for competition. For each Regional, a team will be allowed to declare as in-region if one or both players reside within the region. While all players may compete in multiple National Series events, a player may declare their team in-region once. If the top placing team at a tournament is out-of-region, full placement games may be necessary to crown a Regional Champion.
The Regional Champion will also earn an automatic bid to a Power Pool at Nationals.
FAQS
What equipment will be used for the National Series?
Spikeball Pro Sets will be used for the West, East, Midwest, and Southeast Regionals. South Regional TBD.
In the interest of connecting and growing roundnet collectively, USA Roundnet set up a process to bring in both Premier Spike and Spikeball (manufacturers of equipment approved for sanctioned events) to support the National Series. Although both manufacturers were interested and coordinating efforts to partner, in the end, only Spikeball was able to finalize a sponsorship for the 2024 National Series.
USAR will continue developing partnerships with any brand that wants to grow roundnet at both the grassroots and national level. This will include continuously reviewing and improving our processes to promote more opportunity.
How do other sanctioned events fit into the picture?
USAR Sanctioned Events remain an integral component of growing and connecting roundnet in the United States. If you would like to learn more about running a sanctioned event and the resources & benefits provided to TDs and communities, read more here.
When will USA Roundnet announce the exact date, location, and points system for Nationals?
We may release these all at once or on a rolling basis during February as the beginning of the National Series approaches.
Do I have to be a US citizen to participate in the National Series?
There are no restrictions on who can participate in the National Series. You will need USAR membership or a USAR event access pass, but anyone can play in these events.
